COMBAT FURY

Combat Fury provides a complete combat framework featuring parrying, dodging, enemy AI group coordination, magic, stats, and weapon-driven mechanics.

COMBAT FURYGame Mechanics

Resource overview

Combat Fury supplies a functional action framework based on directional hit reactions, defensive timing, and weapon-dependent behaviors. The architecture organizes offensive combos, defensive counters, enemy coordination, and stat tracking into modular Blueprint mechanics intended for rapid melee game setup.

Weapon-Driven Mechanics and Combo Buffering

Combat actions throughout the system scale directly from the active weapon equipped by the character. Developers can set up standard single-handed weapons or configure a dual weapon state with dedicated spawn and holster handling. All core combat capabilities—ranging from basic strikes to aerial follow-ups—derive their data directly from the current weapon profile, requiring corresponding animation montages to drive each state. A dedicated weapon data refresh mechanism allows adjustments to weapon parameters without rebuilding base data assets.

Offensive play supports two distinct combo structures: buffered combos and non-buffered combo styles. In buffered setups, input queueing captures chained attacks reliably during active montage windows, preventing input drops during rapid combat sequences. Beyond standard ground attacks, the package includes an air launch attack mechanic that transitions into dedicated air combo strings. Attack montages maintain strict execution ordering to prevent overlapping inputs or broken visual transitions.

Spells and ranged capabilities extend beyond close-quarters combat through an integrated magic system. This module includes projectile attacks, targeted spell casting, and area-of-effect abilities. Projectiles account for targeted trajectories as well as un-aimed firing states, giving projects flexibility across ranged combat encounters alongside traditional blade play.

Defensive Reactions, Parries, and Directional Dodging

Combat Fury implements reactive defensive mechanics that process both player and enemy positioning. Blocking and impact mechanics evaluate incoming strikes directionally, generating specific block reactions and hit reactions influenced by attack strength. Light attacks produce minor flinches, while heavier impacts trigger pronounced staggers.

Defensive choices also rely on precise timing through active parry and counter-attack systems. Successful parries interrupt incoming enemy assault chains, opening windows for retaliatory strikes. For evasive movement, the package uses a directional dodging and rolling system supplied with four custom dodging animations. This allows players to sidestep or roll clear of incoming hitboxes across four directional axes without breaking lock-on engagement.

Lock-On Modes, Camera Closeups, and the QTE Component

Combat tracking centers on a dedicated lock-on component that accommodates three operational behaviors depending on camera design preferences: Free Look, Free Pitch Only, and Lock Control Rotation. Free Look leaves camera control independent during combat, Free Pitch Only retains vertical axis adjustments while tracking target yaw, and Lock Control Rotation anchors the camera perspective directly to the locked opponent.

Cinematic emphasis accompanies major combat beats through dynamic camera closeups. These automated camera shifts trigger during executions, counter attacks, and specific special strikes. The framework features standard finisher animations, air finishers, and jump executions. The execution system supports characters using different skeleton assets, allowing finishers to function across varied character meshes without rigid skeletal parity.

Interaction logic extends through an integrated Quick Time Event (QTE) component. This component handles timed animation interactions, execution sequences, counters, and general world interaction. Visual feedback during combat includes an on-screen damage overlay that communicates sustained player trauma during intense exchanges.

Enemy AI Coordination, Boss Behaviors, and Spawners

Enemy logic relies on a redesigned enemy AI component supported by dedicated spawner actors. Rather than attacking independently without regard for other units, enemies utilize an attack group coordination system. This system controls engagement pacing across multiple hostiles, organizing attack turns so groups do not overwhelm players with simultaneous unreadable hits. Combat Fury also includes distinct Boss AI scripting suited to standalone encounters requiring specialized patterns.

Enemies interact fully with the offensive system. Hostile AI units can counter-attack and trigger lethal finisher sequences directly against the player character. Enemy health bars provide dynamic progress tracking over targets during live encounters. AI navigation handles traversal across uneven landscape geometry, preventing ground pathing errors when characters jump or navigate varied elevations.

The system also includes an experimental companion AI module, establishing behaviors for friendly non-player characters to fight alongside the main character. Fixes resolve idle state freezes to maintain reliable AI engagement throughout extended combat scenarios.

Character Stats, Fear Posture, and Progression Systems

Character health and combat longevity are managed across several distinct baseline stats: Lives Count, HP, Stamina, and Fear (Posture). The Fear posture mechanic functions similarly to posture systems seen in demanding action titles, accumulating pressure during deflections and blocks until a posture break leaves the target open to an immediate execution.

Player advancement is organized through a native leveling and skill system. Characters earn experience points and skill points through combat participation. The included skill user interface features an integrated video preview window, allowing players to view animated gameplay previews of specific combat techniques before allocating points to unlock them.

Interactive world elements complement survival stats. The system supplies interactable world actors for picking up weapons and restoring HP directly during gameplay exploration.

Locomotion Flexibility and Enhanced Input Support

Combat Fury features out-of-the-box integration with the Game Animation Sample Project (GASP) alongside native support for Enhanced Input mapping. For developers building games outside that framework, the package provides non-GASP player character setups and non-GASP AI characters complete with standard baseline locomotion. This dual setup allows creators to connect the combat mechanics directly to custom movement systems without stripping out integrated GASP dependencies.

Camera integration extends across standard camera rigs and supports the Gameplay Camera system, including compatibility hotfixes targeting camera updates up through engine version 5.6. Example animations, hitbox configurations, and combat VFX are pre-configured throughout the asset structure to provide a functional foundation right out of the box.
