Resource overview

Anchoring Domestic and Weathered Interiors with Fireplaces

Central hearths and interior heaters dictate the spatial layout of living spaces, mountain cabins, suburban residential builds, and abandoned shelters. Suburbs VOL.10 - Fireplaces provides focused architectural elements built specifically to serve as functional and decorative focal points. Whether outfitting an intact suburban living room, a cold winter cabin requiring lumber and stone fixtures, or a deteriorating post-apocalyptic house filled with ash and scattered wood logs, the included assets offer the physical mass and structural detail needed to ground indoor environments.

The collection supplies complete fireplace assemblies, standalone heaters, stone surrounds, and auxiliary wood and lumber elements. Every asset is styled to meet AAA production visual standards while adhering strictly to real-time performance considerations. Instead of relying on generic geometry, the models incorporate fine surface irregularities, realistic mortar lines, chipped stone, and metal trims that visually respond to direct heat and surrounding domestic wear.

Nanite Geometry and Low-Poly Mesh Variants

Balancing high visual fidelity against strict rendering budgets often requires maintaining dual asset pipelines. This collection resolves that bottleneck by delivering 40 total meshes, systematically split into 20 assets with both high-density Nanite representations and standard low-poly alternatives, along with variant models for architectural diversity.

For modern Unreal Engine 5 production pipelines targeting high-end hardware, the Nanite meshes allow artists to place geometry with micropolygon density directly into scenes. Carved stone faces, intricate mantels, cast-iron grates, and split log surfaces retain continuous silhouette detail without noticeable geometric stepping, even when viewed at extreme close-up angles. In workflows restricted by legacy geometry budgets, mobile limits, or non-Nanite rendering paths, the paired low-poly versions step in cleanly, preserving the visual silhouette and surface contours through baked normal data while keeping polycounts predictable.

Texture Architecture and Channel-Packed Shading

Every asset is authored with high-fidelity 4K texture sets calibrated to deliver realistic surface breakup under diverse lighting conditions. Surfaces feature accurate physical properties spanning soot-stained masonry, rough-sawn lumber, cast iron, and smooth residential trim. These distinct material profiles prevent indoor environments from appearing flat or artificially uniform.

To keep draw calls and texture streaming footprints lightweight during real-time gameplay, the texture pipeline utilizes channel packing for key material parameters. The project packs roughness, metalness, and ambient occlusion into single image maps:

  • Red Channel: Roughness information governing gloss, soot accumulation, and surface polish.
  • Green Channel: Metalness data isolating conductive hardware, grate details, and stove components.
  • Blue Channel: Ambient occlusion maps establishing contact shadows within deep mortar lines and recessed cavities.

This packing scheme minimizes texture sampler consumption inside the graphics pipeline, preserving memory space when filling interior scenes with multiple props and architectural layers.

Master Material Setup and Visual Tuning Controls

Asset customization relies on a centralized master material system built directly in Unreal Engine. This master setup acts as the control center for the majority of the props, standardizing shader logic across stone assemblies, metal components, and wooden accessories while allowing instant artistic adjustments through instanced parameters.

Material instances provide direct controls for albedo coloration, roughness range offsets, and normal map intensity. If a scene requires soot-darkened brickwork rather than pristine masonry, the albedo and roughness sliders enable rapid environmental weathering without leaving the editor. The master shader accommodates subtle surface shifts, allowing artists to blend individual fireplaces into specific suburban decor palettes or desaturate them for cold, neglected interiors. All branding elements, labels, and decorative emblems across the assets were custom designed by Dekogon Studios artists, ensuring every model remains completely free of trademark concerns.

Lighting Integration with Unreal Engine Lumen and Color Grading

Suburbs VOL.10 - Fireplaces is built to integrate with Unreal Engine 5.0 and above, offering native support for Lumen dynamic global illumination and reflections. Deep fireboxes, recessed hearths, and overhead mantels produce realistic light bounce and natural soft occlusion when illuminated by direct sunlight, room fixtures, or dynamic firelight placed inside the grates.

The package includes custom post-process settings and a dedicated Look Up Table (LUT) to assist in framing realistic scene contrast and color balance right out of the box. For projects aiming to combine domestic infrastructure with overgrown or neglected states, these hearth assets also pair smoothly with complementary packages like Foliage VOL.23 - Ivy (Low Poly), enabling artists to drape creepers and weathered vegetation across stone chimneys and fractured hearthstones without stylistic discordance.
