Three Game-Ready 2km2 Maps Showcasing Each Procedural Biome

The package centers on three pre-made 2km2 environment maps. Each one functions as a standalone, game-ready scene designed to demonstrate one of the three procedural biomes included in the pack.

Having three full maps rather than bare templates means developers can open any of them, inspect how the procedural systems populate terrain with trees and grass, and use them directly as playable spaces or as reference for custom scenes. The 2km2 scale provides enough room to evaluate biome density, distribution patterns, and how the included background meshes frame the playable area without needing to generate a new landscape from scratch.

Unique Trees, Vegetation, and Grass Types Per Biome

Every biome carries its own distinct set of trees, vegetation, and grass types. There is no shared flora library repurposed across all three environments; each biome gets its own plant palette.

This separation matters for visual variety. A forest-themed project can pull from the biome whose tree and grass types match that look rather than trying to retexture or rescale vegetation meant for a different climate. The pack also includes 10 grass types tied to the auto-landscape material, giving each biome multiple ground-cover options that distribute procedurally across the terrain.

Auto-Landscape Material With Six Landscape Layers and Runtime Virtual Textures

Each biome ships with an auto-landscape material configured for six landscape layers. This allows terrain surfaces to blend through multiple texture inputs without manual layer setup each time the material is applied.

Runtime Virtual Texture assets are included and ready to use. These assets connect landscape rendering with the procedural distribution system so that grass, vegetation, and surface detail align with terrain layers dynamically. Photogrammetric rocks are also part of the package, adding scanned surface detail to ground scatter and formations.

Niagara Rain and Snow VFX Alongside a Global Wind System

Beyond static environment art, the pack integrates basic Niagara-based rain and snow visual effects. These weather systems are functional starting points rather than comprehensive climate simulations, but they provide immediate atmospheric coverage for scenes that need precipitation without requiring custom Niagara graph work.

A global wind system affects vegetation motion across each map. Because the system is global, wind response is consistent across trees, grass, and other vegetation types within a scene, reducing the mismatch that occurs when individual assets carry isolated wind settings.

Background Meshes and Road Splines for Landscape Framing

Customizable background meshes are included to help match surrounding terrain to any landscape configuration. These meshes sit beyond the playable area and prevent hard edges or visible drops at the map boundary.

Road meshes function as landscape splines, offering a way to lay paths across terrain that conform to elevation changes. Using spline-based roads on the landscape means routes can be adjusted by editing control points rather than rebuilding road geometry.

Dynamic Lighting Requirement and Billboard LOD Considerations

The environment pack is built for fully dynamic lighting. Trees use billboard meshes as their last LOD screen, and static lighting does not work with these assets because Unreal Engine 4 cannot generate different lightmaps for custom LODs.

Projects relying on baked static lightmaps will need to account for this limitation. The dynamic lighting approach keeps vegetation and LOD transitions consistent, but it shifts the rendering load to real-time computation rather than precomputed lighting data.

Where Procedural Biomes Fits in a Production Pipeline

Developments that need multiple distinct outdoor environments quickly can use all three biomes as ready foundations. Each map pairs terrain, vegetation, weather, and background framing into a unified package, reducing setup time for teams that would otherwise improvise each ecosystem from unrelated parts.

Projects already committed to dynamic lighting pipelines gain the most from the pack, since the LOD billboard setup and runtime texture integration align with that workflow. Static-lighting productions would need to evaluate the trade-off before integrating the assets.
