Animalia - RaccoonCharacters

Resource overview

Forest edges, alleyways, campsites, and abandoned lots all have a place for a raccoon. Animalia - Raccoon is a realistic quadruped animal asset that comes with an animation set authored at 60 Frames Per Second (FPS), 2K Textures, and optional gFur support. It is built to drop into Unreal Engine projects running Unreal Engine 4.24+ (UE4.24+), and it connects to the larger Animalia ecosystem through the Animalia - Starter Kit.

A Realistic Raccoon for Forest Edges and City Alleys

Because the model is realistic rather than stylized, it suits productions that need believable wildlife. Whether the scene is a nocturnal urban street, a woodland trail, or a rural backyard, the raccoon's proportions and texture resolution are aimed at close-up and medium-shot use alike. The tags on the asset—Raccoon, Realistic, Quadruped, Creature, Fur, and Animal—describe exactly what it brings: a 4-legged mammal that can populate environments that call for natural animal presence.

The package is structured around the model itself, with the animation set, Textures, and Physics setup all supporting that core. For projects that already use the Animalia series, the compatibility with the Animalia - Starter Kit means this raccoon can be added as part of a unified collection of creatures, though the asset works just as well as a standalone addition to a scene.

Animations Authored at 60 FPS, With and Without Root Motion

The animation set is a major part of what makes this raccoon production-ready. Every clip is authored at 60 FPS, which gives the movement a smoother, denser feel than the standard 30 FPS animation captures. That extra temporal detail can reduce the need for interpolation and helps preserve the character of a quadruped's gait, sit, and idle motion.

All animations are provided in 2 variants: with Root Motion and without. This is a practical split for different technical needs. Root Motion versions are useful when the animation itself should drive the raccoon across the world, which is common in gameplay or scripted events. Non-Root Motion versions leave the movement to code, Artificial Intelligence (AI), or Cinematic sequences that need to keep the character in place. Having both versions in the same package saves 1 step during import and setup.

2K Textures and gFur Support That Keeps Dependencies Optional

The raccoon uses 2K Textures, a resolution that balances surface detail against memory budgets. For a creature of this size, 2K delivers enough Texel Density for close-ups without excessive overhead. The Texture set is paired with the model so that the realism of the fur, skin, and markings reads clearly across different lighting conditions.

Fur is handled through gFur support. For Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) users, gFur for UE5 is available for free, and the raccoon does not require the gFur plugin to be installed. That means you can use the model as-is without any fur system, and only engage gFur when you want the added hair/fur effect. This optionality gives teams control over performance and visual fidelity.

LODs, a 3ds Max Rig, and a Ragdoll in the Same Package

Alongside the model and animations, the package includes a 3ds Max Animation Rig, LODs, and a Ragdoll setup. The 3ds Max Rig is intended for animators who want to adjust existing clips or create new ones that match the exact bone structure of the raccoon. For a creature asset, this is a practical addition because quadruped animation is often tuned by hand.

LODs address performance in scenes where multiple raccoons might appear. By using lower-detail meshes at distance, the asset can be carried into gameplay without forcing 1 single high-poly version to do all the work. The Ragdoll setup covers the opposite end of the motion spectrum: when a raccoon is hit by a projectile, falls, or collapses, the Physics Body can take over with a ready-made Rigid Body configuration.

Compatibility Notes and the Animalia - Starter Kit

V2.3.0 of the asset supports Unreal Engine 4.24+ (UE4.24+), with a revamp to the latest standards. Because the range starts at UE4.24, it covers a broad stretch of UE4 and UE5 releases. For anyone working with the Animalia roster, the raccoon is compatible with the Animalia - Starter Kit. That compatibility allows the raccoon to plug into a broader collection of animals, but it is not a dependency. The asset is self-contained enough to be imported into a project on its own, then extended with the Rig, Texture edits, or animation adjustments.

Teams building a wildlife-centric game, a creature documentary-style visualization, or a short film that needs a convincing raccoon will find the essentials here: a realistic model, smooth 60 FPS animation with flexible Root Motion options, fur support that remains optional, and the technical scaffolding of LODs, Ragdoll, and a dedicated Rig.
