Resource overview

An interactive project that asks the player to feed a dog, play with it, or watch it react to danger needs more than a static mesh. This shepherd puppy asset arrives as a rigged, animated model with a substantial set of clips and the textures needed to place it directly into a PBR pipeline.

The Core Model: 57 Bones, 9,900 Triangles, Four LODs

The main shepherd puppy mesh is shaped by a 57-bone skeleton and sits at 9,900 triangles. Four levels of LOD are enabled and configured, which keeps the model practical for scenes that need more than one dog or for distant camera shots. The texture work follows the PBR pattern used by most real-time engines: an albedo map with alpha mask, an AO/metallic/roughness map, and a normal map. All texture maps are 2048x2048.

The Animation Set: 75 Clips Across Common Dog Behaviors

The animation package includes 75 clips, mixing in-place (IP) and root-motion (RM) takes. The coverage starts with combat and survival states:

  • Attack: bite, front, left, right
  • Hit: front, back, middle
  • Death: left, right

From there it moves into everyday behaviors, with multiple variations for resting and movement:

  • Idle 1-7
  • Digging
  • Eat, drink
  • Lie 1-2, lie belly 1-2
  • Sleep, sleep belly 6 stages
  • Jump: start, up, horizontal, down high, down low, land
  • Jump place
  • Sitting idle 1-2
  • Pissing

Locomotion is covered in several gaits, each with direction variants:

  • Crouch move: front, left, right, back, back left, back right
  • Crouch: idle, turn left, turn right
  • Walk: front, left, right, back, back left, back right
  • Trot: front, left, right
  • Run: front, left, right
  • Swim: front, left, right, back, back left, back right
  • Turn: left, right
  • Turn 180: left, right

Interaction actions are also part of the set:

  • Pick up
  • Put down

Root Motion and Customized Loop Phases

The root motion animations are customized and working, so the dog can move through the world while the motion is baked into the clip. Looping actions such as eat, sleep, and lie also have customized beginnings, cycles, and ends. That helps a state machine or a gameplay event trigger the animation without a visible snap when the loop restarts or when the dog transitions into a new action.

Separate Mobile Model and Included Dog Accessories

For projects that target phones or need a lower rendering cost, the package includes a separate mobile model with 2,150 triangles. The main 9,900-triangle model remains available for scenes where the extra detail is appropriate, while the mobile version can be swapped in when draw calls and triangle budgets are tight. Alongside the dog, the asset includes several props: collars, food bowls, balls, dog toys, kennels, and beds. These props make it simpler to build a doghouse corner, a feeding area, or a play scene without pulling objects from separate packs.

Putting the Puppy to Work in a Scene

The package covers much of the production setup in one pass. The model has working LODs, PBR textures, a complete rig, and an animation set that includes combat states and quiet moments. A character artist or gameplay designer can take the shepherd puppy, drop it into an interactive environment, and get believable behavior for a dog that attacks, swims, sleeps, eats, plays, or gets picked up. The mobile version extends the same character to lower-end builds, and the accessory list fills out the immediate surroundings.

For a project that needs a realistic young shepherd dog with a broad animation range and the optimization already configured, this package provides a solid starting point.
