Resource overview

Setting up a character animation pack usually starts with 2 checks: whether the motion will work with a character controller and whether the Root Bone behaves correctly. Package Deliveryman Anims answers both directly. The 166-animation set covers a delivery worker carrying boxes, loading a backpack, and throwing packages, with Root Motion already prepared for almost every moving clip.

V1.1 Adds Overhead Carry Throws and a Backpack Load

The May 3, 2022 update to V1.1 introduced 14 new animations. These are grouped into 2 actions: a set for carrying a box over the head and then throwing it, plus an upload/loading sequence for placing a box into the backpack. These additions fill a practical gap for delivery gameplay, where the worker needs to transition from a static carry pose into an active throw, and from holding a package to stashing it on the character model.

No Blueprint or gameplay logic was added in the update. The anims remain pure animation data, so the event-driven behavior for a throw or a backpack load still has to be handled in the Player Controller.

Root Motion Ready Across the Full Set

1 of the 1st details a Technical Animator will notice is the Root Motion split. Exactly 82 of the 166 animations have the Root Motion checkbox marked inside the Animation Sequence. The remaining animations that move the character from one place to another using leg movement do not have that box checked, but they are still Root Motion ready. The description explains this clearly: the Root Bone is animated to follow the Pelvis in every frame.

What this means in practice is that even if an animation was authored without the sequence-level Root Motion flag, the data itself is already there. A developer can enable Root Motion in the Animation Sequence or drive the character directly from the Pelvis movement. This is a welcome setup because it removes the need to hand-bake root translations for most locomotion clips.

6 In-Place Animations for a Backpack Rider

There are 6 customer-on-backpack animations that break the Root Motion trend. These are intentionally In-Place. Since the customer is meant to be attached to the backpack as the worker moves, the customer clips do not need to generate any root translation. The In-Place setup avoids double movement when the Customer Actor is parented to the Backpack Socket. This is a small but useful production decision, as it lets a team attach the passenger directly without wrestling with conflicting Root Motion.

Animations by Category: 35 Carrier Frames, 131 Carrying

The full set totals 166 animations. The breakdown given in the packaging notes is 35 carrier frame animations and 131 carrying animations. This split helps narrow down what type of motion is included: a smaller batch of pose-like carrier frames, presumably for standing or holding states, and a much larger batch of actual carrying locomotion and actions. The new throw set and backpack load fit into the carrying category, expanding that larger group.

What the Pack Does Not Include

The pack is strictly an asset pack. The disclaimer is explicit: Blueprints for any gameplay are not included, and character models from the promotional video and images are not included. That means the animations are meant to drop into an existing character skeleton of your own creation or from another source. The animation list, with tags like Box, Package, Delivery, Luggage, Postal, Transport, Carry, Worker, Movement, Pickup, and Backpack, gives a quick picture of the covered activities. From postal and luggage contexts to general carrying and pickup tasks, the library is aimed at a deliveryman character but can apply to any worker who handles boxes.

For a production pipeline, the most direct benefit is the honest technical documentation: the Root Motion behavior is spelled out, the In-Place rider clips are called out, and the scope of the pack is clear. After importing you can separate the 82 Root-Motion-enabled clips for direct locomotion, manually enable Root Motion for the other moving clips, and treat the 6 backpack-rider animations as socket-attached poses. That leaves only your own gameplay logic to build around the anims.
