Resource overview

Open grassland landscapes rely on organic layering to look believable, transitioning from low ground cover through scrubland and into scattered timber. Meadow - Environment Set provides a comprehensive library of 100% photoscanned natural elements assembled specifically to construct contiguous rural environments. Developed by Nature Manufacture, active in game and app asset creation since 2014, the kit provides complete terrain, foliage, rock, road, water, and boundary assets that integrate seamlessly across expansive vistas.

Photoscanned Foliage and Meadow Vegetation

Ground-level visual density in open fields depends heavily on botanical variety. The kit equips environment artists with 31 distinct grass and flower types, allowing for diverse ground coverage ranging from uniform meadow turf to overgrown, weed-strewn fields featuring species like poppies. Layering these species across an open plain breaks up repetition and establishes natural ecotones where wild patches naturally intrude into pasture land.

Taller vegetation bridges the gap between ground covers and high canopies. Eight bush variants provide mid-tier volume suitable for hedgerows, forest fringes, or sheltered depressions. Above the shrub layer, the tree roster contains 11 distinct assets arranged across specific growth stages and conditions: three general plants, two small trees, one medium specimen, two large trees, two forest-adapted trees, and one dead tree. These include tree forms such as poplar and willow, allowing artists to populate both dense forest pockets and windswept, solitary clearings. Ground-level forest detritus is supplemented by three tree trunks and two mushroom models, ensuring that the transition between decaying wood and living turf remains visually convincing.

Cliffs, Rocks, and Angle-Based Masking

Topographical elevation changes and jagged outcrops require structural rock forms that blend into the surrounding terrain rather than standing out as disjointed geometry. The collection provides 20 individual rocks spanning small pebbles to massive boulders, alongside 24 cliff assets supplied both as modular parts and as pre-merged composite shapes. The merged cliff shapes allow level designers to erect large ridgelines and valley walls rapidly without spending production time resolving seams manually.

To keep hard surface geometry coherent with the surrounding biome, the material system for the rocks and cliffs incorporates a cover-by-angle function equipped with a mask option. This shader behavior allows horizontal surfaces or specific slopes on a boulder or rock face to collect top-down surface materials—such as grass, dirt, or debris—while keeping sheer vertical faces bare. By automating the placement of accumulation based on geometry tilt and mask controls, artists can position rock formations at any rotation without manually repainting contact lines.

Ground Surfaces and Low-Poly Landscape Bases

Broad landscape contours are anchored by six low-poly landscape terrains that establish macro-level topography, such as rolling hills and natural basins. These foundational meshes serve as broad canvases for ground painting and procedural material distribution across vast view distances.

Surface texturing is handled through nine dedicated ground texture sets designed to reflect varied countryside soil and litter conditions:

  • Three distinct grass surface textures for varying states of pasture growth and density
  • Standard dry soil for worn clearings and agricultural clearings
  • Wet soil texture sets for saturated soil and low-drainage points
  • Two sand textures for dry clearings, bank cuts, and trail substrates
  • Fallen leaves and pine needles for forest floors, windrows, and tree bases

These texture variations give environment artists the palette needed to transition cleanly from dense needle carpets under woodland groves to trampled soil and sun-bleached turf across open grasslands.

Road Blends, Swamp Water, and Wet Paths

Traversing natural environments requires organic pathways that blend into soil rather than cutting unnatural geometric tracks through the grass. The pack includes surface configurations for both dirty roads and narrower dirty paths, each pre-configured with a wet ground mix. These path options allow designers to carve cart tracks, walking trails, and muddy vehicle ruts directly into meadows, capturing the appearance of churned dirt, moisture accumulation, and dried edges without harsh transitions.

Hydrological features receive dedicated material setups. A specialized swamp material can blend up to two distinct detail types alongside water, replicating marshlands, standing bogs, and waterlogged roadside ditches where weeds, sediment, and stagnant water merge. A clean water material is also provided for ponds, creeks, and open standing pools, enabling varied moisture levels from subtle drainage puddles to full meadow wetlands.

Modular Fence Systems and Structural Assemblies

Man-made interventions in open rural scenes typically center on field borders, animal enclosures, and path markers. The pack supports modular structural layout through an extensive wooden fence library comprising three distinct operational workflows:

  • 24 fence system meshes separated into individual spans and posts for customized layouts along irregular topography
  • 13 pre-built fence meshes for rapid placement along straight tracks and established pasture boundaries
  • 19 fence construction sets that supply individual timber parts for broken fencing, customized enclosures, and unique carpentry arrangements

These options allow developers to decide between fast, drag-and-drop boundary dressing using the pre-built fence assets, or precise slope-following placement using individual spans and posts. When paired with the 100% photoscanned foliage and terrain surfaces, these timber elements provide human scale and agricultural context across wilderness scenes, hillsides, and marshy meadows.
