Modular Elements of the Japanese School Pool
The Japanese School Swimming Pool asset is designed to provide developers with a flexible toolkit for constructing a specific and recognizable architectural environment. The package is built around 79 unique meshes in FBX format, which serve as the foundation for the 196 available prefabs. These components allow for a modular workflow, where individual pieces can be arranged to fit the layout requirements of a specific level or cinematic shot.
The complexity of the geometry is optimized for various performance needs, with model polygon counts ranging from a minimum of 10 for simple items to 1628 for more detailed structures. This range ensures that while the primary focal points of the pool area maintain visual fidelity, the background elements remain lightweight to preserve frame rates within a real-time environment.
Visual Detail and Texture Management
To define the surfaces of the pool and its surrounding facilities, the creator has included 167 textures in PNG or TGA formats. These textures are distributed across 81 materials to provide variety in surface appearance. The texture resolutions are categorized to prioritize detail where it is most needed:
- 113 textures at 2048x2048px for high-detail surfaces.
- 48 textures at 1024x1024px for mid-range objects.
- 6 textures at 512x512px for smaller or less prominent items.
On top of that, the package includes two skybox and procedural materials to help define the upper bounds of the environment and set the initial lighting tone for the scene.
Atmosphere and Environmental Post-Processing
Creating a convincing atmosphere in an outdoor academic setting requires more than just geometry and textures. This resource includes four Post Processing Stack v2 profiles, which are calibrated to work with the included materials to produce specific visual moods. These profiles allow developers to quickly adjust the color grading and lens effects to match the desired time of day or stylistic direction of their project.
Two demo scenes are provided as part of the package, serving as practical examples of how the 578 total assets can be assembled. These scenes demonstrate the intended layout of the pool area, including the placement of fencing, tiling, and academic infrastructure, offering a baseline for further customization.
Integrated Water and Technical Setup
The functionality of the pool is centered around the “pool01_water” prefab. This specific component is configured to utilize the Water Script and Water Pro Daytime settings typically found in Unity Standard Assets. This integration allows the pool surface to exhibit the expected behavior of a large body of water within the context of the school environment.
The package is optimized for projects using Unity version 2018.1.9 or later. While it relies on standard assets for certain water effects, the core meshes and textures provide a standalone visual identity for the Japanese school setting. Developers can utilize the included assets to create everything from abandoned athletic facilities to pristine, active school grounds by leveraging the variety of prefabs and materials provided in the 701.8 MB package.
