Resource overview

Grabbing an object from a low shelf, snatching supplies off the floor, or reaching overhead to pull an item down—each of those motions bends the body differently. Item Pickup Set addresses that spread directly, delivering high-fidelity interaction animations for realistic item gathering across a deliberately wide range of poses.

Pickup Heights and Approach Angles Across All Variants

The pack is arranged through nine pickup heights: 0cm, 25cm, 50cm, 75cm, 100cm, 125cm, 150cm, 175cm, and 200cm. That progression runs from ground level all the way to overhead reach, so a character can bend to a dropped magazine or stretch upward toward a top shelf without the animator filling the gaps by hand.

Three interaction angles—0°, 45°, and 90°—layer on top of those heights. The creator lists these for smooth targeting, which in use means the character can face the item head-on or approach it from an offset and still find a matching clip rather than snapping into a rotated grab.

Every height and angle pairing comes in left-hand and right-hand variants. That choice matters when a character is holding something in one hand and needs to pick up additional gear with the free hand, or when a scene simply calls for reach consistency across mirrored character rigs.

Standing, Crouching, and Prone Interactions With Throws Included

Stance coverage runs through three postures. Standing clips handle pickups and throws at full height. Crouching clips cover pickups and throws from a lower position. Prone clips handle ground pickups and throws, the lowest practical interaction tier in the set.

Throw Item animations are included for all three stances. A character can grab an item at a given height, then transition into a standing, crouching, or prone throw, letting pickups and tosses read as continuous behavior rather than as two disconnected states spliced together in a timeline.

What the 119-File Package Contains

  • 9 pickup heights, from 0cm ground-level through 200cm overhead reach
  • 3 interaction angles: 0°, 45°, and 90°
  • Standing, crouching, and prone stances for both pickups and throws
  • Left-hand and right-hand variants for all heights

Throw Item clips are bundled with every stance, expanding the set beyond pure grab animations and into the follow-through motion of releasing the grabbed object.

Root Motion and In-Place Versions for Every Asset

Each animation ships in two motion modes: root motion and in-place. Root motion lets the character translate naturally through the scene during the pickup or throw, locking the body's spatial movement to the clip itself. In-place versions keep the character rooted at a fixed origin, giving animators and programmers control to drive movement through Blueprints, state machines, or other gameplay logic while the clip plays locally.

Because every asset includes both modes, teams can mix and match depending on whether a given interaction is meant to physically displace the character or stay anchored where it triggered.

Rig Compatibility and Included Source Files

The pack is built on the Epic Skeleton, also referred to as the UE5 Mannequin. This makes the animations directly compatible with Unreal Engine 5's standard character rig setup, reducing re-targeting friction for projects already using Epic's default skeleton.

Supporting files extend beyond engine-ready assets..FBX files are included for broader pipeline use, and MotionBuilder source files are bundled as well. This gives technical animators the ability to edit, refine, or adapt the clips inside MotionBuilder before re-exporting them.

IK bones are also included, supporting foot and hand locked placement for cleaner grounding during interactions—particularly useful for crouching and prone pickups where contact with surfaces needs to read accurately.

Where This Animation Set Fits

Games and productions that lean on grounded resource gathering are the clearest fit. Looting in shooters, searching containers in horror or adventure titles, field crafting in survival games, or any scene where characters routinely pick up objects from varied heights and angles can draw from the nine-height, three-angle grid without reaching outside the pack for common interactions.

The throw coverage across standing, crouch, and prone extends the pack's usefulness into tactical or action sequences. A crouched soldier tossing a magazine to a teammate, or a prone character discarding an empty casing at ground level, stays within the included library.

With compatibility spanning Unreal Engine 5.0 through 5.7, the pack aligns with current UE5 workflow versions, making it a practical drop-in for active projects on those builds.

Who Benefits Most From Item Pickup Set

Developers building third-person or first-person character systems that need realistic grab coverage across varied item positions will get the most immediate value. The combination of the Epic Skeleton base, both root motion and in-place versions, and the included.FBX and MotionBuilder sources means the pack serves both ready-to-use implementation and deeper custom editing inside established animation pipelines.
