Resource overview

A checkpoint scene loses its tension when the soldiers standing guard look static. A parade ground feels empty when every troop moves in perfect, identical time. Platoon: Drill Basics targets that problem with a set of 36 military animations meant to bring a platoon to life, not just a single soldier.

Attention and At-Ease States That Don't Look Copy-Pasted

Most of the pack is structured through the 2 core platoon stances: attention and at ease. The list includes Platoon_AtEase, Platoon_Attention_01, and Platoon_Attention_02 as base poses. But the real value sits in the variations. There are 4 Platoon_AtEase_Distracted_01 through 04 clips, plus an AtEase_Tired_01 version. On the attention side, you get Attention_Distracted_01 through 03 and Attention_Tired_01.

These aren't just cosmetic differences. A squad holding formation during a long ceremony will naturally have a few members whose focus drifts or whose posture sags. Having 4 distinct distracted at-ease animations and 3 distracted attention animations means you can scatter them across a crowd so no 2 nearby soldiers look identical. The tired variants add another layer of realism for scenes where troops have been standing in formation for hours.

Transition clips are also covered. Platoon_AtEase_FromNPose and Platoon_NPose_FromAtEase handle the shift between platoon rest and the neutral pose, so you can move characters between states without pop cuts.

Marching Clips for Flag Bearers and Standard Rifle Drill

Marching is the other large slice of the pack. There are flag-specific forward marches: Platoon_March_Fwd_Flag_Heavy and Platoon_March_Fwd_Flag_Light. These give you 2 distinct ways to animate a soldier carrying a unit flag, depending on whether the motion feels heavy or light.

Standard infantry marches appear in 3 intensities: Platoon_MarchLight_01, Platoon_MarchMedium_01, and Platoon_MarchHeavy_01_IP. Each has an In-Place variant, marked _IP, which lets you loop the step cycle while the character stays rooted to the spot. That's useful for marching-in-place drills or for matching gait speed with a moving platform.

The loop versions are worth noting. Platoon_MarchHeavyLoop_01 gives you an endlessly repeatable heavy march, and Platoon_MarchLight_01_IP gives the same for light march in place. A platoon marching across a battlefield or along a road can use these loops to extend the movement without visible seams.

Formation Changes and Facing Movements

Forming up is a big part of platoon drill, and the pack includes 4 formation entry animations: Platoon_FormUp_Behind, Platoon_FormUp_Front, Platoon_FormUp_Left, and Platoon_FormUpRight. These cover the different directions a soldier can approach when slotting into a line or block.

Turning and facing are handled with Platoon_Turn_Left_180, Platoon_Turn_Right_180, Platoon_Turn_Right_90, and Platoon_Turn_Left_90. These are basic footwork clips for repositioning a single soldier without breaking the formation illusion. Combined with the form-up animations, they give you the raw pieces to choreograph a squad moving from column to line or about-facing as a unit.

Salutes, Drill Sergeants, and the Command Layer

The pack also covers the ceremonial and command side of drill. Platoon_Salute_01, Platoon_Salute_02, and Platoon_Salute_Loop give you both single salutes and a looping hold. There is a separate Platoon_Sergeant_Salute_01, which suggests a distinct gesture for a non-commissioned officer.

Drill sergeants get their own clips: Platoon_DrillSergeant_01, 02, and 03. These are likely the more expressive, command-heavy moments—the kind that add personality to a training ground scene. There is also Platoon_Tired_Recovered_1, which can serve as a recovery animation after a period of exertion.

Compatibility with the Agent - Tactical Pistol Rig

The pack is listed as compatible with the Agent - Tactical Pistol character. That's a meaningful detail for production, because it means the clips are already matched to a specific Rig and can be dropped directly onto that agent rather than needing to be Retargeted from scratch. Teams already using the Agent - Tactical Pistol model can treat these animations as a plug-and-play layer for military scenes.

Who Benefits Most

Platoon: Drill Basics is a strong fit for developers working on military simulations, barracks or base-camp environments, parade ground set pieces, and any game where a squad of NPCs has to stand around convincingly. The variety of idle states across attention and at-ease is especially useful for crowd scenes, where the same base pose repeated across 12 soldiers breaks the illusion.

Teams building training drills, march sequences, or ceremonial Cutscenes will find the formation and turning clips essential. And because the whole set is aimed at platoon-level motion, it saves the time of hand-keying a full squad's worth of animation cycles.

For an asset pack that hangs its hat on a narrow slice of military motion, the range is practical. From distracted soldiers breaking posture to flag bearers marching in heavy step, these clips give a platoon its character.
