The PBR Sword Pack 1 provides ten unique sword models specifically designed for games where melee combat is a primary focus. While the package is primarily marketed toward RPG and MMO development, the fidelity of the assets makes them suitable for first-person perspectives and other genres where blades are viewed in close proximity. The developer has prioritized a high-quality Physically Based Rendering (PBR) workflow to ensure the equipment integrates naturally with various lighting environments.

Technical Mesh Breakdown

The ten swords included in this pack feature a range of complexity in their geometry, allowing for different levels of detail depending on the specific requirements of a scene. The distribution of vertices and triangles for each individual model is as follows:

  • Sword 1: A lightweight model consisting of 1,041 vertices and 1,416 triangles across a single mesh.
  • Sword 2: A single-mesh model with 2,002 vertices and 2,442 triangles.
  • Sword 3: A more complex geometry featuring 5,289 vertices and 9,380 triangles.
  • Sword 4: The most detailed single mesh in the pack, containing 7,120 vertices and 8,930 triangles.
  • Sword 5: Balanced for mid-range detail with 2,043 vertices and 3,296 triangles.
  • Sword 6: The only model in the set composed of three distinct meshes, using 2,444 vertices and 2,280 triangles.
  • Sword 7: A single-mesh design with 4,049 vertices and 4,002 triangles.
  • Sword 8: A lower-complexity option with 1,185 vertices and 1,556 triangles.
  • Sword 9: Optimized for efficiency with 1,001 vertices and 1,592 triangles.
  • Sword 10: A high-detail model using 4,173 vertices and 6,324 triangles.

Texturing and Material Standards

To support the PBR workflow, each sword is accompanied by 2K textures in PNG format. These textures are categorized into standard PBR maps to facilitate realistic light interaction and surface definition. The pack includes Albedo maps for base color, Normal maps for surface detail, Occlusion maps for depth and shadowing, and Metallic maps for defining material reflectivity. These assets are pre-configured into materials within the package, reducing the setup time required for integration into a project.

Unity Integration and Project Structure

The collection is delivered as a unitypackage totaling 122.5 MB and contains a total of 95 assets. This includes the models, materials, and textures mentioned, as well as a demo scene that allows developers to view the swords in a pre-configured lighting environment. This scene provides a baseline for how the PBR materials should appear under standard render conditions.

The package was originally developed in Unity version 2020.3.34 and is compatible with the Built-in Render Pipeline. This ensures that the shaders and materials function as intended within that specific version and pipeline configuration without requiring immediate manual conversion.

Application in Game Development

Because the pack includes a variety of blade types—including longswords and greatswords—it serves as a versatile resource for character equipment systems. The differing polygon counts across the ten models provide developers with flexibility; lower-poly models like Sword 1 or Sword 9 may be ideal for background characters or basic loot, while the more intricate Sword 4 or Sword 10 can be reserved for hero assets or unique quest rewards. The inclusion of full PBR maps ensures that as players move through different game environments, the metal and leather surfaces of the weaponry respond correctly to changing light sources.
