Modular Haunted House (Modular House, Modular Building, Barn, Haunted House)

Modular Framework for Farmsteads and Horror Structures

The Modular Haunted House asset pack focuses on a flexible construction system designed for horror and adventure game developers. At the core of the package are two bespoke modular building kits—one for residential houses and another for barns. These kits allow for the assembly of unique farmsteads and rural environments. With 237 meshes and 262 prefabs, the system supports a variety of layouts, moving beyond fixed geometry to allow for structural customization. The developer has ensured that all buildings created with these pieces are fully enterable, providing a seamless transition between exterior environments and interior gameplay spaces.

Interior Furnishing and Prop Integration

To populate the modular shells, the kit includes a comprehensive library of interior assets. The furniture and prop collection is designed to create lived-in, eerie atmospheres. Specific meshes provided for interior detailing include beds, bathtubs, books, candles, and carpets. Functional structural elements such as banisters, doors, and awnings are also included to complete the architectural design. Because the buildings are intended to be fully furnished, these props are scaled to fit the modular dimensions of the house and barn kits, ensuring that interior navigation remains consistent for the player.

Technical Specifications and Texture Standards

The visual quality of the kit relies on PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials. Each material is composed of several texture maps, including Base Color/Diffuse, Normal, and Smoothness/Roughness. Depending on the specific material, additional maps for Ambient Occlusion, Metallic, and Opacity are provided. Texture resolutions are set at 2048×2048 and 4096x4096px, maintaining detail even at close range. Performance is managed through a Level of Detail (LOD) system, with up to four LOD levels available for meshes. Vertex counts for individual assets range from 30 to 20,000, allowing for a balance between high-fidelity hero objects and optimized background elements.

Vegetation and Environmental Context

To anchor buildings within a believable landscape, the package includes a library of photo-scanned foliage. These assets provide the natural overgrowth typically found around abandoned or haunted locations. The inclusion of photo-scanned materials for the foliage ensures that the organic elements match the visual fidelity of the architectural meshes. These plants are designed for use across different types of fields and exterior spaces, complementing the barn and house kits to create a cohesive rural scene.

Pipeline Compatibility and Implementation

The package was originally developed for the High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP), and the provided renders and showcase materials utilize High Fidelity Pipeline Settings. However, the developer has included a URP (Universal Render Pipeline) file for those working within that framework. For projects requiring higher frame rates, the developer suggests switching to Performance or Balanced settings within the pipeline configuration. Collision is handled through Unity’s native systems, typically utilizing Box and Mesh Colliders. The asset count totals 838 items, including a playable demo map that serves as a reference for how the modular components, props, and foliage can be integrated into a finished scene.
