Comprehensive Nature Prefabs for Stylized Landscapes
Pure Nature 2 : Mountains is a specialized 3D environment collection designed for creating stylized natural landscapes within Unity. The package includes 425 individual assets, all provided as ready-to-use prefabs. The library is built to cover a wide variety of terrain types, featuring a dense assortment of vegetation such as spruces, pines, and firs. For ground-level detail, the developer has included various bushes, ferns, and mushrooms, alongside a specific selection of flowers including berries, daisy, gorse, lavender, and lupin.
The geological assets in the pack provide the verticality required for mountain scenes. These range from small pebbles and boulders to large cliffs and full-scale mountain models. To ensure visual consistency across these surfaces, the pack utilizes custom shaders for rocks that allow for moss or snow layering, depending on the desired environmental conditions. The technical complexity of these models varies to accommodate different performance needs, with polygon counts ranging from 100 to 15,000 triangles per mesh.
Technical Infrastructure and Shader Controls
The package is built with production efficiency in mind, featuring an Environment Manager that allows developers to control wind effects and grass render distances from a centralized location. This is paired with custom shaders designed for specific environmental elements. The grass and tree shaders include settings for wind movement and color variations, while the water shader features depth fading, foam, and refraction. For atmospheric depth, the pack also includes volumetric clouds and presets for post-processing.
Texture resolutions within the pack are scaled based on the size of the object, ranging from 256×256 for smaller props to 4096x4096x for larger environmental features. To maintain performance in expansive scenes, all prefabs are equipped with Level of Detail (LOD) states. The developer also includes impostors to assist with rendering distant vegetation efficiently.
Pipeline Compatibility and External Tool Support
Pure Nature 2 : Mountains supports both the Built-in Render Pipeline and the Universal Render Pipeline (URP). It has been updated for Unity 6 (6000.0.34f1) and maintains compatibility with Unity 2022.3.10f1. The recent version 2.1 update introduced specific enhancements for Unity 6 URP, including an AmbientLighting override for the Environment Manager and updates to the Godrays script, which now affects ParticleEffect colors directly.
For those using external terrain and world-building tools, the pack includes dedicated presets for MicroVerse and Gaia Biome Spawner. It is also designed to be compatible with COZY Stylized Weather 3. For developers working on large-scale scenes, such as the included demo scene which features a massive terrain with rivers and canyons, the developer recommends using a proper GPU instancing solution like Nature Renderer to handle the high density of assets.
Scene Construction and Resource Management
The asset package includes a large demo scene that serves as a practical example of how to combine the various assets into a cohesive world. This scene demonstrates the integration of forests, rivers, and canyon structures. Additionally, a separate scene is provided that lists all prefabs and their variants for easy browsing. To prevent technical conflicts when importing multiple environment packs, the developer has implemented unique GUIDs for all assets and unified the folder hierarchy, moving URP-specific assets into a common folder structure.
While the assets are versatile, the developer notes that the high-detail demo scene is intended for desktop or console-class hardware and may require optimization for mobile platforms. A provided Readme file contains the necessary instructions for initial setup and technical details regarding the custom shader configurations.
